Last run pre-surgery

I had my last run yesterday with this crew, it was an amazing spring day as the sun fought to break through the mist. 4.2 miles, it felt comfortable but even that short distance, my knee was beginning to hurt near the end. However, it gave me positive vibes in the run up to my surgery on Friday. It has been a real struggle not being able to run as I'd like to and without pain. I've visited some dark places since undergoing surgery in November. I was so close to returning before tearing my cartilage again. All signs point to the surgery bring too conservative last time, which left me predisposed to tearing it again. Fingers crossed that this time, the surgery will be successful.

Running is so important to me. Not just my physical health but mental health; it is my sanity and release when surrounded by stress and pressure. My knee today has been hurting quite a bit and has underlined the need for this second surgery. I think my run yesterday albeit only 4 miles, was one run too far.

I'm hopeful that Friday will be the start of a new phase in my running life. It will also be the launch of my fundraising for the Berlin marathon 2019.

positivity = possibilities
